A long long time ago when I was still young I created my first mood board. A cacophony (hmm cacovisiony?) of pink and decadence. When I first thought about my wedding that’s what I envisioned. A weekend of shabby-chic luxe (oh yes, I started that trend, I’m sure*) decadent, relaxed fun.
I rather like it still. Champagne and pink, McQueen and Packham, love and velvet. What more could a girl like me want? I only wish I’d had enough pennies to have bought that sign from Pedlars. Ah well, we live and learn!
Did we make our wedding fit in with our moodboard. I believe we did. Have you flicked back to moodboards of yore to see if your vision has changed?
Yesterday I started a new trend (hopefully) for daily mood boards. I love the words but I am a visual learner and an oft inspired by that one perfect image. I think my moodboards will be a little different. Definitely focusing on the mood rather than the stuff. So whilst I will include weddingy things, I do stand by my conviction that you should be inspired by everything in your daily life. That’s how you create your wedding, it should be an extension of you, not a completely new house. It should represent your life together now.
There will probably be an abundance of pink but I will try my darnedest to include a couple of other colours too!
Are you a moodboard lover? Did you grow up tearing things from magazines or is pinterest your new best friend?
*Much like the trend for messy buns. I used to get teased at senior school because I didn’t wear my hair in a ponytail but in a messy bun. I was a trailblazer stupid Little Miss Ponytail (I can’t even think of a decent pseudonym for the main monster).
