One of my lovely girlfriends, Mouse is having a special birthday soon. Seeing as we were classmates at school I imagine you can work out how old she will be but I would be so vulgar as to actually disclose this.
I have been enlisted as chief* birthday-maid. (I’ve never been a bridesmaid – she is kind! *And I decided upon that extra moniker.)
We have a cute bar and aspirations of decadence.
This is my little moodboard via the joy that is Pinterest (go on, join us!) for our personal styling (perhaps more on the bar styling tomorrow!)
We are going for 1920s vibe rather than a costume party.

Sequins and feathers certainly don’t come cheap. Well especially if one has a modicum of taste.
Are you inspired by the 1920s? I would say our wedding was 1920s (ish) inspired. That old word, inspired, is wielded with disdain by the vintage fraternity and with dangerous ease by others.
Is it possible to walk the line of fabulous whilst not becoming too fancy dress?
Help!

Of COURSE it is possible to look amazing in 20′s style without looking fancy dress.
You don’t have to go the typical knee length tassled flapper mini dress – this loose fit tends to suit a certain body type.
Google ‘Anna Friel Goodwood’ and see how amazing she looks in her cloche style wide-brimmed hat, fur, frock and shoes – all 20s ‘inspired’. The key is to pick one or two statement pieces {Fried did with the hat and fur} and always, always wear bright red lipstick like those naughty flapper girlies liked to ;)
And it is illegal to step out 20′s style without at least one fabulous string of pearls ;)
xx
I meant ‘Friel’, not ‘Fried’ – obvs!
These are beautiful dresses! Love the accessories too.
Mouse is very spoiled to have such an amazing birthday-maid!!!!! :) xxxx
