Welcome to the White Gallery and hello Stewart Parvin

The Wedit deals with everything fashion. From the fabulous shoes to the decadent veils and everything in between. I will be delving deep into the world of the bridal world to show you the very best the UK (and on occasion a little further afield) has to offer. If you have a fashion query for the wedding blog do email at wedit@farfromtheweddingcrowd.com and I will try and solve it for you. As always some of my choices and recommendations will be far from the wedding crowd!

Oh ladies (and gents), I’ve had an exciting start to the week.

The White Gallery beckons but once a year and this year I am rather impressed.

There are few people who are able to are able to get me seated in Battersea at 10am on a Sunday but luckily Stewart Parvin is certainly one who has that ability! Whilst the music wasn’t perfect the following dresses certainly were.

Are you a classic bride with a fashion twist? These are the dresses for you. I adore the way his designs are distinctly timeless yet so modern.

Just click to see the delicious images!

The Eighteen Days of FFTWCness – Day Fifteen

Welcome to our Eighteen Days of FFTWCness because I’m so wretchedly excited about Christmas I couldn’t wait any longer. For the next eighteen days we shall delight you with images of fabulousness and a few DIY projects to see you through until the new year.

So, some of us take years to plan our wedding and sometimes you are getting married tomorrow and you have no dress. So where do you go if you are eloping tomorrow and well, you’d rather get married wearing a dress than not.

Well, where better a place to find your gown than Net-A-Porter (it’s not secret I sort of love the online shop!)?

I’m going to avoid putting prices on here because I think you might occasionally be surprised?! (Definitely check out the shoes!) (Okay I’ll admit some of the dresses are pricey but they are certainly no more expensive than an “average” high end wedding dress!) However, most of these items are in the sale. You know, I trawl the sales so you don’t have too!

We shall start with the traditional. And look how pretty traditional can be!

Amanda Wakeley L’Wren Scott Roland Mouret Jil Sander (a little last bit of Raf?)

And little more tradition.

Alessandra Rich Chloe Nina Ricci

Main Image – Temperley

Or are feathers, Vivienne Westwood or something a little shorter with sexy sleeves more your style?

Alexander McQueen           Vivienne Westwood            Alexander McQueen

Look at those buttons and those feathers. You would be the talk of the town in this dress.

Marchesa

Sleeves are most certainly a trend now, but fear not, they are still fabulous.  (And a little pop of black never did anyone any harm!)

Clockwise from top right

Joseph Roland Mouret Temperley Michelle Mason

Yes, I would like to wear this to a wedding very soon please. The print, the length, the sleeves, the lace cutouts. Yes, yes and  yes.

Giambattista Valli

Fancy a little colour and a dress you would most certainly wear on another very special occasion.

Main Image Matthew Williamson

Top to bottom - MarniVivienne Westwood and Roksanda Ilincic

Perhaps a little more colour for yourself? And by a little I mean, a lot!

Lanvin Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen - if you are a lover of pink and feathers.

And finally 2 pairs of shoes I think you will love.

Oscar de la Renta  Miu Miu

So are you a last minute bride? Or perhaps last minute is the wrong phase. Perhaps you are right on time and the dress is not the most important part of your day?

Introducing KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA

This is a sponsored post. It may be paid for but the words are our own. Our integrity is, of course, everything. If we didn’t believe in their product/service then this post wouldn’t be on this wedding blog and we’d be a little bit poorer. Enjoy.

Time for some amazing dresses from KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA.

I happened upon KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA when I popped to Kingly Court for afternoon tea at Camellia’s. I was drawn into their shop by the lace-y creations dancing in the window. I stepped inside and was in heaven. Delicate lace embracing chiffon and silk with sweet colours hidden beneath. I recall the sweetest baby blue peeking through the chiffon.

Pearl and Elisabeth with your sleeves so beautiful.

Anastascia and Adelle

Ariane and Victoria peeking with a delightfully touch of blue.

“Originally from Latvia, Katya Shehurina, graduate from ESMOD fashion design school in France, is one the leading prospective designers in Europe. Having gained a wealth of experience from her work for Nicolas Faffiotteand David Purves, the well known French designers, Katya created her own brand back in 2007.

Often inspired by the 1920s, the KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA brand primarily focuses onbridal and evening wear. Her collections can be characterised as exclusively feminine and uniquely designed with most garments being hand made. Her creations can be distinctively recognised by several key attributes, such as having a special vintage and delicate feel, but at the same time remaining highly versatile and practical. A Woman by Katya is charming, mysterious and graceful, but also vulnerable and sensitive. She attracts by her overwhelming power, freedom and unpredictable being.

KATYA KATYA SHEHURINA dresses are graceful and elegant, employing very delicate lace elements, handmade embroidery details and floating silk. They can be complemented by jackets that will make your choice look absolutely complete and stunning.”

I cannot explain how beautiful these dresses are, the images truly do them no justice. There is a delicate ethereal glow about them that I’ve yet to see in the wedding world. So please take your time to go and visit the boutique. It is just wonderful. I promise it will be worth the visit.

Hallowe’en – the perfect inspiration for a collaboration

Sometimes you are sent emails that make you smile, emails that are full of excitement and a little intrigue. Today I get to show you some of that excitment. Hallowe’en isn’t really that important to me. I’m not going to lie, I love a wonderfully carved pumpkin as much as the next person but it still seems a little forced and well, plastic. I’m not a great lover of dark red on people either.
However, I am always happy to have my preconceptions exploded!
I was very excited when I saw the images and heard the backstory of the “Purely Indulgent Wedding Window.” I love it when lovely suppliers work together to create awesomeness. And well, this red is fabulous! Black and white is just so chic and the floral and tasty accents just add to the modern feel.
The flowers and dresses just work together so well. Oh and I adore the hanging candelabra. There should definitely be more hanging candelabras in the world. Yes to weddings working at all three dimensions! I shall leave you to the clever thoughts of the ladies who created the display. Enjoy. Could you be a Hallowe’en bride?
“It was a warm, sunny morning in August, the smell of fresh coffee and the excited ideas of 3 girls, dreaming of a perfectly beautiful Halloween wedding, fluttered around the room. But this wasn’t a group of friends planning a wedding, this was a group of talented industry professionals working on a collaborative window display. A window display which would inspire brides to be glamorous, romantic and completely chic, with just a hint of Halloween for their special October wedding day.
The excited group was Nicola (Mathilda Rose bridal boutique), Emma (Cake Maison) and Sharon (Flowerbug Designs).  The  inspiration was vintage 1931 Dracula’s Bride Movie with a touch of Mrs Haversham from the Charles Dickens novel, Great Expectations in 1861, whilst keeping a red carpet feel.
The dresses were carefully chosen & styled by Nicola to create the right look; a romantic French Chantilly lace dress with a luxurious black silk ribbon sash tied in a bow with fresh flowers (Verity, Johanna Hehir).  A glamorous silk strapless fitted dress with a delicately pleated skirt with a soft grey pleated sash with black tie to create sophisticated drama (Delphine, Elizabeth Stuart).
The girls agreed that the ambiance would be elegant, sophisticated and glamorous with just a hint of ‘spookiness’. The Halloween theme should be no more than a feeling. So  candles were key, from tiny tea lights to dramatic candelabras. Sharon decorated striking high gloss black candelabra’s suspended from the ceiling and a black mirror urn styled with velvety red grand prix roses, seasonal deep red tinged hydrangeas, deep burgundy foliage and trailing red amaranthus to complete the look.
Inspired by Elizabeth Stuart’s beautiful ‘Delphine’ gown and the velvety red used in the floral arrangements, Emma designed a cake that is a base of unadorned ivory, dressed it with vertical folded pleating and draped a dove-grey peplum around the cake.  A black sugar belt pulls together the Halloween colours and works perfectly with the lovely ‘Delphine’.  Finally, Emma added a magical blood-red fantasy flower which tied in with the beautiful flowers.
Once the window was styled to create and capture the stunning atmospheric feel, Danni Beach was invited to photograph the finished display using night time photography & using ambient light; it gives the most beautiful effects with dramatic results.  The use of candles adds to the feeling while incorporating romance and luxury. This time of year, with the nights drawing in, there is no more effective way to elegantly capture the indulgent glamour of your day than some beautiful night shots.”
My favourite detail? The little black cat, of course.

Phase Eight Sale

The Wedit deals with everything fashion. From the fabulous shoes to the decadent veils and everything in between. I will be delving deep into the world of the bridal world to show you the very best the UK (and on occasion a little further afield) has to offer. If you have a fashion query for the wedding blog do email at wedit@farfromtheweddingcrowd.com and I will try and solve it for you. As always some of my choices and recommendations will be far from the wedding crowd!

Hello lovelies,

Time to look at Phase Eight’s pretty wedding dresses which are deliciously on sale right now! The dresses are up to 50% off and well there are quite the bargain if you can find the one you love. In sizes from 8-20. Not bad Phase Eight, no bad at all.

Indeed in a past life (perhaps 3 years ago now) I bought a Phase Eight wedding dress in case I couldn’t find the right dress. Things changed but I still love the dress I bought. Hmm I wonder where it is? Time for a little eBay fun or a perhaps it would be nicer and easier to send it to Oxfam?

But back to the dresses and we start with a beauty.

Stephanie

Stephanie £125

Oh the pleats. So pretty. I love that you could dress it up or down. You could be a boho bride or become incredibly decadent with jewels and it would work.

Astoria £197.50

Perhaps not my favourite but there is a slight vintage vibe with this pretty dress. Probably not the one to go for if you are very hip based! Although swoon at the v-neck!

Kate £147.50

A delicate modern dress. A very chic alternative if you don’t want something too big.

Firenze

Firenze £197.50

Well if you happen to be marrying in Florence this could be the one! I’d love to see it up close. The beading looks rather pretty and look at the pretty keyhole detail at the back.

Emma £225

Hello demure cap sleeves and tiny train. Oh the broderie anglais.

I think Phase Eight have done well this season. Will you?
